AUSA subchapter (Captain Meriwether Lewis) hosts
Military Appreciation Day
201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade’s
Thank you Gig Harbor for loving our military. See *below who supported this effort.
To show gratitude to our fine soldiers, 4000 family members of the 201st Brigade will be hosted at Sehmel Homestead Park on Friday August 4th for a free meal with family activities including bounce houses & free face painting for the kids, competitive sport games and with Harbor Wildwatch coming to show off sea life. This is a much deserved family time for these military families.
Thank you to the Gig Harbor AUSA Sub-Chapter (Captain Meriwether Lewis Chapter) for making this happen. Members of AUSA provide Professional Development Opportunities to transitioning service personnel, and you can be a voice for our service members by becoming a member at this link. Also thank you to PenMet Parks for hosting. I was told that in spite of the large crowd, the park is in perfect order following the event.
Also supporting our military in a big way is the Permission to Start Dreaming Foundation (Leslie Mayne). Leslie will be front and center at the event sharing her support for those who suffer with PTSD. You can support her mission by attending 2 upcoming events:
The Rockin’ Rhythm & Blues Festival at the Gig Harbor Sportsman Club on August 12th from 12pm – 9pm. With 7+ bands featuring Kal David featuring Lauri Bono, The Shy Boys, Mark Hurwitz & Gin Creek, The Twang Junkies, Jim Valley Blues Band, The Whirlies and King Kom Beaux.
Race for a Soldier , Sunday Sept. 24th the famous 1/2 Marathon and fun runs
