Stand Up Paddle Boarding Parade on the Water @ Skansie Brothers Park
Sep 22 @ 12:00 pm
Stand Up Paddle Boarding Parade on the Water @ Skansie Brothers Park | Gig Harbor | Washington | United States

Stand Up for Peninsula Schools is proud to announce the 2nd annual SUP in the Harbor, a community event to support our schools. On September 22, hundreds of people will gather in downtown Gig Harbor for stand up paddle boarding, live music, face painting, food and more.

This year’s SUP in the Harbor goal is to break last year’s record of 103 stand up paddle (SUP) boarders in the parade, which the Gig Harbor Dragon Boat will lead along the waterfront, from Skansie Brothers Park to the Tides Tavern and back to the park.

Free onshore activities and SUP registration will start at noon, including live music, face painting, food booths, community mural painting and lawn games.

Paddle board relay races will begin at 1:15 p.m. and the parade will start at 2 p.m. Sponsor Lee’s SUP will provide free paddle board rentals and life vests to the first 75 participants ($5 after the first 75), or bring your own paddle board. Lessons for SUP beginners will be provided as part of the registration fee ($20 per individual and $50 per family pre-registration).

SUP in the Harbor will wrap up with a school rally, raffle and awards at 2:45 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go to support Stand Up for Peninsula Schools and their efforts to promote Peninsula School District funding measures and communicate funding impacts on our schools and the community.

The Peninsula Schools Education Foundation (PSEF) raises money to fund local teachers’ innovative classroom projects. Since its inception, the PSEF has provided over a half a million dollars to the students, classrooms, and teachers of the Peninsula School District

Why Support PSEF?

This past year we were able to provide more than $23,000 to teachers and schools throughout the District for creative and innovative projects and materials that staff could not otherwise afford to bring into their classrooms. Additionally, PSEF was a sponsor of the CAPE science conference for middle school young women and provided scholarships for graduating seniors who plan a career in education. This is our primary fundraiser; please join us to see “Oh, the Things They Do (all because of YOU)!”

Downtown at the Club @ the Boatyard (see Event Resources Gig Harbor Venue Listing)

A decade ago, the BoatShop was founded after a true community grassroots effort saved the historic Eddon Boatyard from demolition. Since then, we’ve opened our doors to the public and engaged thousands of people with Gig Harbor’s working waterfront.

The work we do is only possible because of you: our neighbors, friends, and community members. It’s only fitting that you join us as we celebrate ten years of providing public benefit and look forward towards the next ten years.
