My favorite Event- Empty Bowls is back!
Let this important community event be your first since quarantine!
When: March 5th, Saturday 11am – 2pm Admission: FREE
Where: Chapel Hill Church 7700 Skansie Ave. Gig Harbor, WA
You need to attend Empty Bowls 2022; I have 5 good reasons why:
Why, Reason #1: You are truly seeing your Gig Harbor community in action. Your hosts, Gig Harbor Altrusa, bring together local artists, students, sponsoring businesses, restaurant’s, Kiwanis and Rotary, all working in collaboration bringing you a well-organized exciting event.
Why, Reason #2: 100% of all money raised is used to provide food for Peninsula School District families. Read Betty’s Blog-Food Backpacks 4 Kids about the desperate need right here in our community.
Why, Reason #3: Shop from 100’s of beautifully crafted artistic bowls made by talented local artists that are donating bowls. They do so, knowing that they are helping to feed hungry children and families right here in our community.
Why, Reason #4: Yum! Partake in the enjoyment of soup & bread. You will sample scrumptious soups made by 8 local restaurant’s: Table 47, BBQ2U, Sunset Grill, Taylor Shellfish, Massimo, Morso, Dunagan’s and Lunchbox Laboratory. Add some Panera bread for dipping – that makes a double Yum! All free with your bowl purchase.
Why, Reason #5: Live Music! Two of my favorite local singers will be playing. Gig Harbor’s Sweet Mary and The Two Macs (Debbie & Scott). You are sure to love them as much as I do, and better yet… chat with them a bit and meet the friendliest, nicest folks ever. You will also see our local student musicians in action: the senior quartet of our Peninsula Youth Orchestra.
Altrusa of Gig Harbor hosts this event and believe me, they are definitely a persistent bunch. They followed through with the 2020 Empty Bowls, holding it on the last day prior to the Covid shut-down. Then last year, they persevered having the 2021 Empty Bowl event as a Pop-Up outdoors. This year they boldly forged ahead planning this first in-person event of this year! High-five Altrusa– thanks for all you do. If you have ever considered joining a volunteer organization with this tenacity come to an informal coffee on Friday, March 4th @ 2pm at Kimball Coffee House and meet some members. Learn more about the group at this link.
Welcome back to a normal way of life and to upcoming community events. Join with friends and neighbors to break bread at Empty Bowls 2022!
