It is time to celebrate our Gig Harbor community!
Are you feeling a little disconnected (like me) after 2 years of no events? NOW is the time to get excited !
YES, our local community festival is back! The Maritime Gig- this weekend (Saturday June 4th & Sunday 5th)
To me, this is the epitome of community! My all-time favorite is the parade- especially the kids. The kids both in the parade and watching it. The sweetness of the home-grown floats, costumes, music and the pride displays the love we share for each other and where we live.
Let’s all come together and celebrate “us” as a community!
The Parade starts at 10am on Saturday. Come early and have breakfast (8am-10am) served by our Gig Harbor Kiwanis. Set up your chair by 8:30am to see all the “little ones” running as fast as their little legs will go. Then check out the primed runners for the 5K that follows.
You simply will not believe the local musical talent on stage starting around noon on Saturday. Did you know we have a local Ukelele Band? A trio of them play at 3:30 and our home-grown Shy Boys play at 7pm. Sunday entertainment starts at 10am, with my friends the Two Macs playing at 2pm with the final musician’s playing at 3:30. See the entire entertainment schedule HERE.
You will be surprised when you visit the vendor booths to learn about local businesses and organizations that you never knew or heard about.
Sunday has 2 very fun events along more entertainment- Drool over immaculate classic cars at the Car Show that starts at 11am and experience the Blessing of the Fleet at 1pm. Gig Harbor’s heritage is fishing! See all our fishing vessels lined up as they receive a blessing from our local priest.
Time to cheer our schools, clubs, pets and pirates… the Maritime Gig is the place to be this weekend – June 4th & 5th.
