FREE Walking Waterfront Tours

  tell stories of Gig Harbor history and nature.

Volunteer guides from the Downtown Waterfront Alliance tell of Gig Harbor’s past; from the historic fishing fleet, the net sheds to the effects of prohibition on the community. A 2nd guide from Harbor WildWatch compliments the tour with delightful details of the harbors sea-life and waterways.

Two different tours offered; Wednesday Evening or Saturday Morning –

  • Wednesday Evenings Tours:

June 7 – August 30 at 5:30pm – Each Wednesday this free 1 hour tour starts at the Harbor History Museum where parking is available. This popular tour, geared more for adults ends with an optional tasting at Gig Harbor’s Heritage Distilling Company, thus the tour name- “From Skiffs to Spirits”.   • Saturday Morning Tours:

June 10 – August 26 (excluding July 29) at 10am; Each Saturday this free 2-hour 1.3 mile journey titled “Harbor Heritage: Then and Now” starts at the Maritime Pier (next to the Tides Tavern) and ends at the head of Gig Harbor.

Both tours hug the waterfront and are 1-way. You have an option to ride the Gig Harbor Trolley back to your starting point or double-back to one of the restaurants or shops you passed along the way to eat or shop.

Visitors will find the tour unique and entertaining but long-time residents are thrilled because guides commonly hear locals saying “I learned so many things I didn’t know!”
